The impact of the lifted res cap on techs

Is some element of the game overpowered? Or useless? Is there a strategy that's unbeatable?

Hey guys just a post with a few thoughts on the balance of the game right now.

There were some positive changes made to the balance of defences at early games but I feel a few changes to the game has almost reversed some of this. As much as I think the res changes were a great idea for opening up the map and allowing more nations to get the stats required to compete, I also think it has taken something away from balancing your techs when levelling up.

Before when your res was hard capped at 300% of your base, you had to invest levels into the three combat trees, gaining techs that increased your base stats, that would then allow you to increase the maximum you could achieve for that stat. This is especially important for levels up to around 80, where balancing these techs + defence techs that didn't offer a +1 or +2 to that base stat, is really important. Now you can put far less emphasis on increasing your base stats and instead teching towards stronger defences and mediating the lack of base stat techs by getting Fresh Waters and going over cap. This combined with the re-introduction of the blue shield seems to have placed lower level defences back to where we were a month or so ago.
