Make chat input box stay active after sending message

Can you make it so that when you send a message you don't have to click on the input box to start typing again? At the very least pressing enter should make the input box become active so you can start typing.

Hitting enter should activate the input box, but I see that it doesn't always. I'll look into that, thanks.
